About Us

ABOUT THE BRAND

Sew The Trend is a curated fabric studio in Los Angeles. We're not a warehouse. We source unique, high-quality fabrics — and we choose them one at a time.

We work with bridal designers and ateliers, ballet and dance wardrobes, costume makers, and event designers. Our collection is deliberately small. We don't try to carry everything. We choose carefully, and keep only what we'd use ourselves.

Fabric has decided things in our family before. In 1949, during the Soviet deportations, families were taken from their homes in the middle of the night and sent to Siberia. My great-grandfather had minutes to decide what to bring, and he carried a sewing machine. He sewed at night for anyone who could pay, and that is how his children ate.
He chose carefully. So do we.
Every fabric here earned its place.
Thank you for making something with it.

OUR APPROACH

We test before we buy. A manufacturer sends us a sample and we handle it ourselves — how it drapes, how it holds color, whether it will survive a season of wear. Most don't make it.

We photograph everything ourselves. Each fabric is shot in our own studio, in studio light and in daylight, so you can see how the color changes before you commit.

Color cards by hand. We cut and assemble every swatch card in the studio. Samples are always available, and we'd rather you hold the fabric than guess at it.

We choose for behavior. How a fabric moves, how it takes light, how it holds up. Not how it photographs.

By the yard or by the roll. Small cuts for a single costume, wholesale yardage for a full production. Same fabric, same attention.

We keep notes. Shades, dye lots, what you ordered and when — so what matched last season still matches this one.

HOW YOUR ORDER IS MADE

You choose your fabric, color, and yardage. Request a sample first if you're matching something.

Order by 12pm PT and it ships the same day. After that, the next business day.

We cut your order as one continuous piece, unless you ask for separate cuts.

Each order is measured, inspected, folded, and packed by hand before it leaves the studio.

EVERY ORDER, WITH CARE

Every fabric in this shop has been through our hands before it reaches yours. We're a small studio, and we'd rather know every fabric on the shelf and every maker who comes back for it than carry more than we can stand behind.

Every fabric here earned its place.
